Updated over 3 months ago

This article explains how product data is structured for your IdeaRoom configurator. It introduces the five major categories of data—Structural Elements, Components, Finishes, Pricing, and Rules—and describes how they work together to create your IdeaRoom configurator.

Product catalog access for editing is currently restricted. Product catalog limited releases for editing will be available beginning January 2026. (Read-only product catalog access is available now.)

How Product Data Is Organized

Your product catalog is made up of five major categories:

  1. Structural Elements – What the building is

  2. Components – What gets added to the building

  3. Finishes – What the building and components look like

  4. Pricing - What the building costs

  5. RulesWhat is allowed when

The configurator combines these datasets to determine:

  • Which building styles and sizes are available

  • Which components appear

  • What finishes can be applied

  • What combinations are valid

  • How the configuration is priced in real time
