The Embedded Configurator

Revising vs. creating a new design, webhook behavior for integrations, and the automated email gap vs. the external configurator.

The embedded configurator lets salespeople update a design or create a brand-new one right from a lead or deal, without leaving SalesView. It's the same configurator technology as the external configurator — just running inside the page you're already on.

You'll find it from New Design Revision, under the Actions panel on the Leads list.

Revising vs. creating a new design

There are two different actions available, and they behave differently — this matters if you're tracking designs by reference number or watching for webhook events.

Action

What happens to the reference number

Webhook event

New Design Revision

Stays the same, with a new version appended (e.g., -1, -2, -3)

Update

Create New Design

Gets an entirely new reference number

Create

In other words: a revision is treated as a change to the same design, while a new design is treated as a brand-new one — even if it's for the same lead.

For clients using integrations: if your integration listens for Create or Update webhook events, this distinction matters. A New Design Revision fires an Update event against the existing reference number. A Create New Design fires a Create event with a new reference number. Make sure your integration handles both cases the way you expect.

No automated email from the embedded configurator

Here's an important gap to know about: when a design is saved from the embedded configurator, no automated email is sent to the customer. This is a planned enhancement, but it isn't available yet.

If you need the formal "here's your design" email to go out automatically, you'll need to use the external configurator instead — click Open external configurator to send the customer there. Once they (or you, on their behalf) save a design in the external configurator, the usual automated email fires as expected.
