Campaign Tracking lets you choose which tracking values your site keeps from an ad link, like UTM source and campaign, Google Ads click IDs, or Meta's click ID. Those values are saved with each design and sent along with your lead data, so you can see which ads bring in leads.
Campaign Tracking is one of the Client Tools in SalesView, found under Sites → Catalog Editor. It's available to dealers and suppliers.
How tracking works
When someone clicks an ad, the link carries extra values on the end, such as utm_source=facebook. Each one is a query param: a key (utm_source) and a value (facebook).
Your site only keeps the query params you've set up in this tool. Any others on the link are dropped. A param you've set up can go to two places:
Webhook — the lead data your site sends to your CRM or other systems.
Design link — the link to a saved design, so the value stays with it when the design is opened again.
Note: Webhooks are part of the Plus subscription. If your site doesn't have a webhook yet, contact IdeaRoom support. They'll confirm your subscription level and add the webhook for you. Without a webhook, your tracking values are still saved with each design.
What you can change
Which query params your site keeps
Whether each one is turned on
Whether each one is sent with your lead data and kept on the design link
You can also build ad links that use the params your site tracks.
The Query params tab
Each query param your site tracks has its own card, grouped by where it comes from: Campaign params, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, Pinterest, HubSpot ad tracking, Google Analytics, and Custom.
Each card shows:
The param's name, such as UTM Source, and its key, such as utm_source
Whether it goes to the webhook and the design link
What the param captures
Whether it's Enabled or Disabled
A key the tool doesn't recognize shows as Custom param under Custom.
Common tasks
Add an ad platform's params all at once
Select + Add query param.
At the top of the drawer, choose a set, such as Standard UTM params, Google Ads, or Meta.
The tool adds every key that platform puts on its links. If you already have some of them, it adds only the ones you're missing.
Add a single query param
Select + Add query param.
Type the key under Query param key. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores only.
Set the options you want, then select Add query param.
Change a query param
Select the param's card.
Change the options you want.
Select Save changes.
Turn a query param off
Select the param's card and turn off Enabled.
Select Save changes.
Your site stops keeping it, but the card stays so you can turn it back on later.
Delete a query param
Select the param's card, then select Delete.
The options on each param
Enabled — your site keeps this param from ad links.
Hide in webhook payload — the value isn't sent with your lead data.
Hide in design link — the value isn't added to the saved design's link.
The preview at the bottom of the drawer shows what an ad link looks like, what your lead data receives, and whether the design link keeps the value.
Some params start with options already set:
Ad click IDs and HubSpot ad tracking start with Hide in design link on. If a customer forwards a design link, the ad platform won't count it as a second ad click.
Google Analytics params start with both Hide in webhook payload and Hide in design link on.
The Link builder tab
Link builder makes ad links for your site. It has the same fields as Google's Campaign URL Builder, but only offers the params your site tracks, so nothing on your link gets dropped.
Your site's link is already filled in.
Choose a quick start, such as Facebook ad, Google Ads, Email, or Print / QR, to fill in the source and medium. Or type them yourself.
Fill in the campaign name and any other fields you want.
Select Copy link, or Test in configurator to open it in a new tab.
Source, medium, and campaign name are required. Click IDs, like Google's and Meta's, aren't offered because the ad platforms add them on their own.
Good to know
Your settings apply only to your own site. If you're a supplier, your settings don't carry over to your dealers' sites.
Each key can only be added once.
Some keys are already used by your site for other things and can't be added.
Link builder doesn't change anything. It only makes links.
Publishing your changes
Your changes aren't live until you publish them. See Getting Started with Client Tools for how publishing works.
