Placing wall items using measurements

Set precise placement of wall items using measurements

Updated over 2 months ago

Measurement lines appear as you move wall items along a wall. These can be used to ensure precise layouts on wall.

Items will snap to natural distribution measurements, such as equally distributed or top aligned.

How your measurements are rounded depends on how your data is configured. You can adjust these by contacting our Support team.

Note: IdeaRoom is not designed to be an engineering-accurate representation of your buildings. We strive for accuracy, but our measurement lines may slightly differ from your physical buildings.

Measurements

When a single item is added to a wall, the user will see the following:

  • Distance from the top of the item to the base of the building (vertical)

  • Distance from the left side of the item to the left corner of the building (horizontal). This is shown at both the top and the bottom of the item.

  • Distance from the right side of the asset to the right corner of the building (horizontal). This is shown at both the top and the bottom of the item.

When multiple items are added, measurements include relative distances between items as well.

Relational Measurements

  • If two items come within a certain distance of one another on the face of a wall, they will “snap” to an aligned height.

  • When aligned, a red measurement line will show the distance of the top of both items to the base of the building (vertical).

  • A red measurement line will also show the distance between items (horizontal).

In the above example, the far right window is selected. It is aligned with two other windows.

The red vertical line demonstrates their shared distance from the bottom of the building, and the red horizontal lines demonstrates their distances from one another.

The blue measurements continue to represent the distance of the selected window from each side of the building (16’3” from the left, and 5’7” from the right).
