Client Tools: Colors

Add, rename, and organize the colors customers can choose from.

Colors manages your color groups and the colors inside them. Groups are organized by where they appear on the building.

Colors is one of the Client Tools in SalesView, found in the left menu under Catalog Editor.

Which color model your site uses

Look at the chip beside the Color Groups heading. It says either Sheds model or Carports model.

Carports model — colors are shared between groups

Sheds model — each group holds its own copy

Sheds model — each group holds its own copy

Most of this article applies to both, but two things work differently:

  • On the Carports model, one color is shared by every group that uses it. Recolor or rename it once and every group changes.

  • On the Sheds model, each group holds its own copy of a color. Editing one leaves the others alone.

Where that changes what you do, the steps below say so.

What you can change

  • Which colors appear in each group

  • A color's label and its shade

  • The order colors appear in

  • Which color customers get by default

  • Whether a color is offered at all

Common tasks

Add a new color

  1. Select + Add color.

  2. Enter the name customers see in Label.

  3. Pick the shade under Color value, or type a code in the Hex field.

  4. Under Add to groups, tick every group this color belongs in.

  5. Select Add color.

The note under Add to groups tells you what will happen — on the Carports model the same color is shared across the groups you pick, and on the Sheds model a separate copy is added to each one.

Add a color you already use somewhere else — Carports model only

  1. Select + Add color.

  2. Open Add an existing color and choose the color.

  3. Under Add to groups, tick the groups to add it to.

  4. Select Add color.

Rename a color or change its shade

  1. Select Manage colors on the group's card.

  2. Hover the color and select the pencil.

  3. Change the Label, the Color value, or the Hex code.

  4. Select Save changes.

On the Carports model this changes the color everywhere it's used. On the Sheds model it changes only this group's copy.

Change the order colors appear in

  1. Select Manage colors on the group's card.

  2. Drag the cards into the order you want.

The configurator shows colors in this order. On the Carports model the order also decides the default — see below.

Change which color customers get by default

On the Sheds model:

  1. Select Manage colors on the group's card.

  2. Open the color you want and select Set as default color.

  3. Select Save changes.

On the Carports model:

  1. Select Manage colors on the group's card.

  2. Drag the color you want into first position. The first color that is switched on is the default customers see.

Take a color out of one group

  1. Select Manage colors on the group's card.

  2. Hover the color and select the trash icon.

Stop offering a color

  1. Open the color for editing and switch Enabled off.

On the Carports model this takes the color out of every group that uses it. On the Sheds model it affects only this group's copy.

Good to know

  • A color group with no colors in it isn't shown to customers at all.

  • Colors you switch off aren't deleted. They stay behind Show disabled.

  • Carports model: each color card shows how many groups use it, so you can see the reach of a change before you make it.

  • Sheds model: each group holds its own copy, so an edit in one group never changes another.
