Client Tools: Site Labels

Change the wording on your site's buttons, form fields, and messages.

Site Labels changes the words your site shows: button text like "Get a Quote," form field labels, and the messages customers see after they submit.

Site Labels is one of the Client Tools in SalesView, found under Sites → Catalog Editor. It's available to dealer sites.

What you can change

  • The wording on a label, in every language your site supports

  • Whether a label shows at all

  • Whether a label uses your wording or your manufacturer's

Finding a label

The tool has two lists:

  • Your changes — every label you've already changed.

  • All labels — your changes first, then every label you can change on your site.

If you haven't changed anything yet, the tool opens on All labels. Labels are grouped by where they appear on your site, such as Quote & Save.

Use the search box to filter by a label's name, its wording, or where it appears on the site.

Each card shows:

  • The label's name, such as Quote Button, with its key in small text underneath

  • The text your site shows now

  • Where to find it on your site

  • When it shows — for example, "When your quote form is on and asks for the phone number"

Common tasks

Change a label's wording

  1. Find the label and select Edit on its card.

  2. Type the new wording under English.

  3. Save your change.

Change a label in other languages

  1. Select Edit on the label's card and expand Other languages.

  2. Type the wording for each language you want to change.

  3. Save your change.

A language you leave blank uses your manufacturer's wording.

Hide a label

  1. Select Edit on the label's card, then select Hide this text on my site.

  2. Save your change.

The card then reads "Hidden on your site."

Go back to your manufacturer's wording

  1. Select Edit on the label's card, then select Use manufacturer label.

This removes your change. The card then reads "Uses your manufacturer's label."

What the current text means

  • Your own wording — you've changed this label.

  • Hidden on your site — you've hidden this label, so nothing shows in its place.

  • Uses your manufacturer's label — you haven't changed it, so your site shows your manufacturer's wording.

Fill-ins and formatting

Fill-ins

Some labels contain fill-ins in double curly braces, like {{phone}} or {{email}}. Your site swaps these for the real phone number or email address. Keep every fill-in when you change the wording — the tool won't save a label that's missing one, and it tells you which one to put back.

Formatting

Most labels are plain text. A few, like the closing text on the quote and save forms and the thank-you messages, accept simple formatting such as bold, italics, and line breaks. Select the info icon next to the text box to see what a label accepts. The tool won't save formatting a label doesn't support.

Good to know

  • Your labels apply to your whole site, for every manufacturer you carry.

  • If you've turned off a form on your site, such as checkout, its labels may not appear under All labels. Labels you've already changed stay under Your changes.

  • A note at the top may say some of your changes were skipped. Those labels belong to an older site layout and don't show on your site.

  • Some site text, such as your estimate intro and closing text, isn't managed here.

Publishing your changes

Your changes aren't live until you publish them. See Getting Started with Client Tools for how publishing works.
